Privacy policy

Last updated: October 2026

Avin Learning Pty Ltd ("Avin Learning", "we", "us") provides online tutoring to students from Year 4 to Year 12. We take the privacy of families, students and tutors seriously. This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we look after it and the choices you have. It applies to information collected through our website www.avinlearning.com, our enrolment and application forms, and our tutoring services.

1. What is "personal information"?

Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), personal information is information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable, whether or not it is true and whether or not it is recorded in a material form.

2. What information we collect

Parents and guardians

Students

Tutor applicants

Website visitors

3. How we collect it

We collect personal information directly from you: when you fill in a form on our website, enrol, contact us by email or phone, or take part in tutoring sessions. Information about students usually comes from their parent or guardian, from the student themselves, and from our tutors during sessions.

4. Why we collect it and how we use it

We only use your information for these purposes, or for a related purpose you would reasonably expect, unless you agree otherwise or the law requires or allows it. We do not sell personal information.

5. Who we share it with

We share personal information only with people and services that help us run Avin Learning, and only as much as they need:

6. Information stored overseas

Some of our service providers store information on servers outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where they operate. We choose reputable providers and take reasonable steps to make sure they protect your personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

7. How we keep your information safe

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, change or disclosure. These include limiting access to the people who need it, using secure (encrypted) connections on our website and forms, and using password-protected accounts with trusted providers.

8. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as required by law (for example, financial records). When we no longer need it, we take reasonable steps to delete it or de-identify it. Applications from tutors who are not offered a position are deleted within 12 months.

9. Marketing

We may send you occasional emails about our services, such as new programs or enrolment offers. We will only do this using details you have given us, and every marketing email includes an easy way to unsubscribe. You can also ask us to stop at any time by emailing info@avinlearning.com. We never use sensitive information for marketing.

10. Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you or your child, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete (Australian Privacy Principles 12 and 13). Just contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days. In some limited cases the law allows us to refuse access; if so, we will explain why.

11. Making a complaint

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to fix it. We will look into your complaint, may ask you for more information, and will let you know the outcome. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
